The New Year kicks off with a New Moon in hardworking Capricorn, and the card for today, maybe even the year, is Two of Wands.

Two of wands is a dynamic card. Being a two, it is related to pairs. Being wands, the element is fire. Two of fire.

Did you know Mars is in Libra? Mars will be in Libra for another 7 months.

These are related by the way. Mars is a fiery planet and Libra likes to operate in twos.

Libras like to be paired and partnered. Libra also likes to see both sides of a situation.

So when you combine Mars (fire) with Libra, you can get fighting against the partner or the other, whoever ‘the other’ may be. Doesn’t sound so good, does it?

Well, I can’t stop the planets any more than you can; however, we have this card Two of Wands, and even with astrology, we have free will.

Twos are also about choices. Something that tortures our indecisive Libras out there.

Add in the wands… and you have choices about your actions, what you do, and what you invest your energy and passions in.

So this year, advice is try to align with the higher side of the energies available to you. Don’t pick fights with people (i.e. the other). Make good choices. Be fair. Decide on what activities or values you want to invest your energy in and decide what you want to stay out of. Act with integrity — something Capricorn is known for.

And if people start pointing fingers…  Remember: You have choices about what *you* do. They have choices about what *they* do.

I almost forgot it was New Year’s Eve. 🙂

8 of Cups

The  8 of Cups shows a figure in the moonlight walking away from 8 Cups.

Usually this is interpreted as leaving things behind, but I feel this figure is just walking into the night to pursue something quiet.

What does it mean?

It means you could get to the noisy party (the 8 cups) and decide you just want to go home and take a bubble bath. It could mean you just want to stay home, period.

If you decide to go out, be careful and stay safe. There’s a T-square in the sky, and people are generally unnerved.

Monday, December 30, 2013 – Lazy Monday

Monday, with the Moon still in Sagittarius, you may be inclined to escape, dream, or relax your day away.

Sometimes an escape is necessary and revitalizing, like water. That’s why people have spa days and go on vacations.

With all the bad news these days or additional stress, it’s good to remember to take care of yourself. You may have a billion things to do, but don’t forget to give yourself some time to recoup. Especially if you have Sun, rising, or planets in Capricorn. Quit trying to work on your break!

As you’re resting, you might get in touch with dreams or wishes you’ve forgotten about while you’ve been busy keeping up with everything you needed to do.

The Star isn’t just about one’s hopes and dreams. It’s also about faith and optimism, even when all you see in front of you is darkness.

So advice for today is to take care of yourself and revitalize yourself. I know it’s a Monday, but the dreamy energy out there still stands. If you manage to do this, the rest of the week will go much better than if you did not take time to get your energy back.

For today, we have the Page of Wands card.

Midday, the Moon strolls into bouncy, uplifting Sagittarius. The general mood is optimistic.

The two go hand in hand.

Pages are often associated with youth and new starts. With the Page of Wands, the Page can be characterized as an optimistic, young person who loves to wander, have fun, and go on adventures. Do you not think it matches the spirit of perspective-seeking Sagittarius?

It’s a card of fresh starts with some oomph and fire behind it.

On a day like this, it’s good to get out and about. If you’re home-bound, you might feel a little edgy. You might also be inclined to be more impulsive than usual. The Moon has moved into Scorpio. Can you feel it?

For Saturday, we have the Fool card. Typically, the Fool is light and carefree, but with the Moon in Scorpio, the feeling is different. It’s not light and wispy. There’s a tendency to want to lurk.

You may be apt to stay at home and daydream or fantasize the day away. Not bad for a Saturday, right?

Thoughts and desires might bubble to the surface on a day like this. Old memories buried might be remembered. Old and new ideas or visions may come to the forefront.

In a way, it’s a carefree day. You might spend your day reading a book, digesting a movie, or deep in thought. On another level, in the spirit of the Fool card, it’s a good day to be thinking about clearing the decks and letting fresh air in for the new year.
